Scripture Sunday

1 Nephi 14:14 is one of my favorite verses in the Book of Mormon:

14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

I remember that in 2005 or 2006 while my husband was deployed I was reading and this verse stood out to me. It's great on its own -- the Church of Jesus Christ does have members in nearly every country on earth who have made and keep their covenants. We continue to build temples throughout the world to bless the living and the dead. I love Nephi's beautiful description of the saints being "armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory." I also like the verse in the context of the whole chapter, where you see the contrast.
