19 Months Old

On the 24th mommy was really busy getting ready to leave for camp (with the ward young womAn). She dropped me off that night at Grandpa and Grandma D's house. I was surprised to see daddy after he was away for 3 weeks, and mommy wasn't with him! Then we went home. Then mommy came home, too. I still call her "mama" sometimes. This is what I am like at 19 months old:
  • I now have four molars, with ten teeth total.
  • At church, I have lots of fun in nursery!
  • The new things I say are hot, ant, done, tall, and "one, two." When someone asks me to say "one," I usually say "two . . . " instead of "one." They think it's really cute. I like to mimic.
  • I say "eh-mo" a lot. It means Nemo or Elmo.
  • I still call my blanket "baby."
  • I use my word "IH-noo" ["in there"] as I point to show mommy that I know where things go, like the stroller in the laundry/storage room.
  • I love to put my feet in other people's shoes. I have to hold onto something so I can step into each shoe.
  • I climb on anything I can. This includes getting out something like a plastic container or dvd case and standing on it. But my parents don't let me do this for very long. I also stand on a chair when I play the piano.
This was my mom's dress was she was my age!
It was made in Costa Rica. Photo taken on June 8.

Meeting Cousins

On Saturday Shboogoo met my brother Joel's sons for the first time. They live in a different state. Unfortunately we didn't get to see Brandi because she was at a bridal shower, but we hung out with the boys. They kids liked each other and had fun!

My mom commented that Joel's son Dylan and my daughter look very much like Joel and I did when we were little. Then we realized that the age gap is almost the same, too. Joel is about 19 months older than me, and Dylan is about 20 months older than Shboogoo. (Dylan was born in March 2005, Shboogoo in November 2006, and Bryce in April 2007.)

"Why are you running?"

a young boy on a bike asked me the other day. Well, he was on the opposite side of the street, and I heard ". . . you running?" so I am guessing that that's what he asked me. "It's fun," I answered as I kept moving. This little boy gave me something to think about as well as to post about. Why do I run?

  • I feel so good after a workout.
  • I want to have a healthy heart and be fit.
  • It's something that D and I share, even though we don't usually run together.
  • I don't want to be fat.
  • I enjoy seeing how far I have gone and challenging myself.
  • Gas is expensive -- twice I have run to Blockbuster to return DVDs.
  • I want to eventually prove to myself that I can finish a half-marathon.
  • I like to be outside.
  • My daughter likes to be outside, and we have a jogging stroller.
  • I don't want to pay for a gym membership.
  • It's an easy way to exercise (all I need is me).
Do you run? Why? If not, why not or what kinds of exercise do you like? Feel free to post a comment!

Scripture Sunday

This is something I will continue on my blog on Sundays (although the last one was on a Friday). I might do it about every other week. Oh, and happy Father's Day to my D and all of the other fathers!

Doctrine and Covenants 50:40-46

40 Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.
41 Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me;
42 And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost.
43 And the Father and I are one. I am in the Father and the Father in me; and inasmuch as ye have received me, ye are in me and I in you.
44 Wherefore, I am in your midst, and I am the good shepherd, and the stone of Israel. He that buildeth upon this rock shall never fall.
45 And the day cometh that you shall hear my voice and see me, and know that I am.
46 Watch, therefore, that ye may be ready. Even so. Amen.

18-month Checkup

I think the digital camera is the best invention ever. Don't you? I get to take as many pictures as I want, and see immediately exactly how they turn out! These are some of the pictures from the doctor's office today.

Nemo stickers and a chair that can spin!

Shot --> crying. Sucker --> crying stops.

ready to leave

So, Shboogoo reached the 18-month mark 3 weeks ago and I finally remembered to schedule her appointment. It went well except that we hope her soft spot will close the rest of the way soon. I like her pediatrician. Shboogoo seems to like everyone, especially if they give her attention. But of course she wasn't happy with the nurse after the nurse gave her the shot.

Here's the "Check-up Snapshot" (posted mostly for the sake of the grandparents and my posterity):
Weight: 21 pounds / 2nd percentile
Height: 29.4 inches / 2nd percentile
Head: 46.5 cm / 47th percentile

(Does anyone know why in the U.S. we use inches for height but we don't use inches for head circumference?)
